Wednesday in Class - The Environment vs. The man-made world

Old growth forests, like the one above, have never been logged.  

This is what clear-cut logging looks like in British Columbia. 

Reforestation (tree-planting) projects in British Columbia protect against deforestation. However, trees take 30 years to reach maturity and hundreds of years to become as big as old growth forests. 

Wind turbines are a form of alternative energy which will have to replace traditional forms of energy when fossil fuels run out. 

Factories and highways cause pollution.  This leads to environmental issues such as global warming and ozone depletion. Solving these problems will require a change in lifestyle for most of the world.
